Anxiety is one of the hardest things to face alone. Fear often sends us into a spiral where we simply can’t do anything to get out of our own thoughts. Whether it’s a full-blown anxiety attack, or the thoughts at night that stop us from getting any peace and quiet. Its in those lonely times that the words of this song which comes from the book of Numbers can mean so much.
“The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.” Numbers 6:24-6
The truth is we’re not on our own, we don’t have to go it alone. It may seem right now with everything that is going on that God is far away, but hope can come from this prayer which comes from a story when the Israelites were in the wilderness after escaping from Egypt. They had escaped from captivity but now they had begun wandering in the desert with no permanent home, safety, or security. And yet God was present amongst them, and moved with them wherever they went. God’s fire literally shone on them in their darkest nights.
Now more than ever we need the peace of God. If you are feeling anxious, ask God to give you His peace.
'Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.' Philippians 4:6-7
But it’s not always easy to pray. We might feel like nothing’s happened, like it doesn't work, or maybe our thoughts are buzzing around too much that we can’t make ourselves still enough to ask for peace. But the wonderful thing is that we are not alone. We are so well connected that all it takes is a short message to a friend, or here on this blog to ask for that prayer. If we are going to weather this storm, we are going to have to rely on each other, and rely on Jesus, the Prince of Peace.
We want to bless you today and pray that God would give you His peace, and to remove all anxiety. If you would like us to pray specifically for you, go to the 'Contact Us' page and leave us a message, email us directly, or through one of our social media accounts.
